The Madron branch of the family are descended from Walter Lanyon and Elizabeth Nanspyan.
They lived at the Barton of Lanyon and were also successful business men in Penzance. For many years they ran a successful tannery and worked as cordwainers and curriers.
The people of Penzance worshipped at St Maddern’s Church at Madron and their baptisms, marriages and burials were recorded there.
