The bad boys of family history have usually got the most interesting stories. This is not an exclusively Lanyon area, it’s for anyone I’ve come across who fulfils the criteria for being a ‘black sheep’!
The name ‘black sheep’ came about because a black sheep was a disappointment to the farmer as the wool couldn’t be dyed and the sheep was worth less.
